Renee H Reopell, LCSW
Therapist - Educator- Gender Explorer
Hi! I'm so glad you're here.
Finding a supportive, therapeutic home can be challenging for us as queer, transgender, and non-binary people. Therefore, I hold some values to create a safer space: you are the expert in your own lived experience; you already possesses the strengths that will help you with the challenges you're facing; you deserve a place without judgment; and you are entitled to be your authentic self. I come from a cross-cultural, social justice perspective, and believe collaboration with you is necessary for your best self.
You've come to the right place for support with:
Gender Identity and Expression
Relationships and Dating
Sex and Sexuality
Isolation or Loneliness
Polyamory or Non-monogamy
Child and Adolescent concerns
Educational or vocational challenges
Gender affirming medical support
Trauma survivor/ PTSD/ C-PTSD
Harm reduction with adolescents
Life transitions or adjustments
Individual counseling is a way for you to clarify your goals, heal from past trauma or painful experiences, and identify your inner resilience. This is a collaborative, where you can become better acquainted with yourself. Counseling may be short or long term
Family dynamics change and shift overtime, which may cause tension, struggle, or stress. Family counseling is an opportunity for all members of the family, whomever you identify as family, to feel supported and heard in a safe, communicative environment, allowing a new dynamic to take shape
Letters of Support
Insurance companies or surgeons may require letters for gender affirming medical care from transgender and non-binary individuals who would otherwise not seek counseling.
LGBTQ asylum seekers face unique challenges in finding a safe(r) spaces to meet with a provider for letters of support.
I provider short-term support to ensure an intentional environment at no cost to clients. Safety is a right. I am a member of GALAP, and follow these guidelines
Hi! I'm happy you're exploring counseling.
I live and practice with the belief that you are a person worthy of dignity, love, and belonging. I'm here to remind you of your worth as you continue to embark on your journey.
I've been supporting my community since 2010 through direct LGBTQ community advocacy, clinical counseling, and program management. During this time I've supported adolescents, young adults, and families working with a variety of issues including family struggle, substance use, coming out, communication, depression, relationship and dating issues, anxiety, life adjustments, and more, as well as managing trauma around systemic oppression. I hold a master's degree in Social Work from New York University, and am licensed in the State of New York.
It's with care and intention that I continue to work and receive training to better serve my community.
